After an age of war, the Sengoku period for the history buffs, the massive amount of death thinned the veil between the human world and the supernatural. Some spirits born or came to take advantage of the horrors, others to protect places or things, more still perhaps just spilled over with the rest. But one thing is for certain they are here now and apart of the world.

[1:03 PM]Wayne Peacock (Kismet Games): Rustwater is a fantasy setting, based on thepremise: What would happen to a coastal culture, much like 18th-century Amsterdam/ Istanbul/Copenhagen, if it were destroyed in a supernatural cataclysm? We use “Rustwater” to refer both to the world and the game itself. This world is not Earth, but it has many familiar elements. Rustwater falls into the niche of “high weirdness.” It has elements of post-apocalypse, horror, and traditional fantasy. We drew on elements of mythpunk and magipunk, layering it all in a collage of seafaring culture. The rules and system establish high stakes and risks. Characters will die. Magic is twisty and unpredictable.
