[7:33 PM]NeonNecromancer: Hi all! My name’s Derek Newhall. I am the lead guy at Neon Necromancer Games. About me: I started playing TTRPGs around 1998. We played primarily 3e/3.5e and Vampire: The Masquerade (plus the rest of WoD) growing up, but I loved Cyberpunk (every edition) and Mekton. I got started in the industry around 2012 when I did some uncredited/work-for-hire writing and layout for some smallish publishers. I then worked for Clever Move Games which was an online advertising and marketing firm for FLGSs. Eventually we shifted focus to buying the rights to works we felt were underappreciated and then publish new editions. One of these things was the Action! System from Gold Rush Games.

[7:33 PM]NeonNecromancer: The updated Action! System is the thing I’m working on right now, and really is the reason Neon Necromancer Games got founded. In 2013, I ran a pulp fantasy campaign and for old times’ sake wanted to run it with Fuzion (the almost-free/open system from ’97 that was a cross between Hero and Interlock/Cyberpunk/Mekton). After rereading the rules after a decade, I realized that Fuzion is great for modern and sci-fi games, but wasn’t really good for swords and fantasy. In my research for old Fuzion materials, I learned about the Action! System (which is really, really close to Fuzion) and also had the distinction of being the second OGL system ever released after the original 3e SRD. When the OGL “kerfuffle” happened earlier this year, I realized I needed to get off my butt and actually publish the second edition of A!S that I’d been threatening to do since 2015. We did a Kickstarter last month to pay for art which failed to meet its goal. However, I (and a couple others) are still working on getting a new Action! System to market. The Instant Action! super-simple variant rules should be released this weekend (fingers crossed). And we we will probably attempt another Kickstarter down the road.(done)
