My game is called Space ‘N’ Monsters, the main focus of the game is Freedom, world building and Silliness, with a fusion of science and magic. This version of the guide is set in the Zeta-Quri Galaxy, a Galaxy with a white hole at its centre, many things appear from all over the universe here, unfortunately this included the human species at one point.

[7:49 PM]Silverlion: What kind of system does it use?
[8:02 PM]Cosmic_Zam: Zeta Quri is a Galaxy unknown to most of the Universe. It is populated by a menagerie of species who have slowly grown to deal with one another since they all arrived at different points over several million years, these range from The Greys (as the humans loosely refer to them based on previous interactions on earth) a secretive species with the most advanced, such as anti gravity ships. They have very little dealings with anyone else and keep to their section of space to the Metalheads, a metallic fungi hive mind species that developed from the dead bodies and slagged machinery on Charon VI during a mini orbital battle between the United Worlds Union, A science based faction obsessed with the betterment of life and the Central Organisation of Companies.
The Galaxy is set at a turning point in its history, after a few thousands years having past since Human beings arrived in colony seeding ships that had been in Deep Space for millions of years, they arrived only a few thousand and now grown into a population in the trillions, a war seeking capitalistic nightmare, pests of the Galaxy.
I could go on and on, it’s quite expansive
The theme is sci-fi and comedy, my influences are Douglas Adams, Red Dwalf, Aliens and many more 😄
[8:04 PM]Cosmic_Zam: It uses a Modular D12 Centralised System of my own design, it can be both Rules lite and Rules heavy as the rules can be picked or not depending on how you want to play, this allowing for easy home brewing 😄
[8:05 PM]Dan the GMshoe: I believe you mentioned magic earlier. Can you say a bit more about that aspect of the setting?
[8:17 PM]Cosmic_Zam: Magic in Zeta-Quri fills in the blanks where science cannot, it is the unknown to current perception and so to know it is to lose your mind. It is a kind of psychedelic Magic and is largely concerned with the idea of everything being interconnected and possessing consciousness. So you could converse with a rock, bring back a soul from the Ethereal plane or provided with the right elements and personal sacrifice cast spells.
The Ether is a higher dimension of consciousness in the game that operates simultaneously to the world and is bridged by magic and death (which can be seen as it’s own ritual).
Some beings are more in tune/ possess the right physical make up to see things like ghosts and being able to process them in reality. Such as The Elves, The Sassi and Humans.
I would say it’s very much tied to Paganism in practice and Quantum Physics in theory.
[8:18 PM]Dan the GMshoe: Cool. What limits are there on magic use (magic points, spells per day, etc.)?
[8:24 PM]Cosmic_Zam: So you have as main stat bars you have Health, Armour and Energy. Performing spells requires items and souls so theirs a physical cost and it can expend your Energy which can only be recovered through sleep, rest or stimulants. If energy is exceed it goes into your health so there’s also the chance you might die.

[8:25 PM]Dan the GMshoe: You touched on this earlier, but can you give some examples of what bleeding-edge technology can do in this setting?
[8:26 PM]Cosmic_Zam: Technology such as anti-gravity ships? The ‘OP’ type stuff?
[8:26 PM]Dan the GMshoe: Right.
[8:31 PM]Cosmic_Zam: So technology can range from primordial soup to higher dimensional existence. The higher levels of technology come at great cost. An example would be the Greys ships fuel source last almost indefinitely, gravity doesn’t need to be considered, the universe is your back garden. However by design the ships can only house its pilots. That means if you wanna go fast, you’ll have to sacrifice everything else.
Applying limits on these kinds of technology is always at the forefront of my mind since they have the capability to break games.

[8:37 PM]Cosmic_Zam: most definitely! At the heart of Space ‘N’ Monsters design was being usable in almost any Genre, so although Zeta Quri is very Sci Fi based Genre can change planet by planet, town by town and if you want to ditch the ships and go all medieval over the place, you can. The system will accommodate

[8:39 PM]Cosmic_Zam: Yes completely! It’s all about having fun, being as silly as possible, not being tied down by the world or even the Space Matrice (Game Master) for that matter

[8:41 PM]Cosmic_Zam: I do, a few variants but I’m keeping that top secret for now! Until I’m ready to send out Test versions of the game for test adventuring 😄
