[7:39 PM] Chantel (SHE/HER): Hi I am Chanel , have been playing D&D for a long time since 89. I know write adventures for all the editions of D&D and some other games like C&C. I am working on some stuff for the Ravnica setting and a world setting for Wonderland. (done).

[7:41 PM] Dan Davenport: Thanks, @Chantel (SHE/HER)! The floor is open to questions!
[7:41 PM] Silverlion: What kind is your favorite adventure you wrote, favorite one you didn’t write?
[7:41 PM] Dan Davenport: How do you decide what system to use for a given adventure?
@SilverlionWhat kind is your favorite adventure you wrote, favorite one you didn’t write?[7:45 PM] Chantel (SHE/HER): Right now my favorite adventure that I have written is The Temple of Golden Nuts. I have a cat version of King Arthur and the King and the knights of the Round Table. One that I have not written is B1 in Search of the Unknown or anything buy Calos Lisling
[7:45 PM] Chantel (SHE/HER): a
[7:47 PM] Chantel (SHE/HER): As far as what system to use, I am not really sure how I pick. There are two more adventures in The Final Dream saga that will be in 1e because that is the edition I love the most. the Greek story will be 3/3.5. But I also think it depends on what I am working on, if it is for Ravnica it will be 5e, but Ravenloft can be 1/2e 3e and 5e. Wonderland will have stuff for every edition and C&C and DCC.(done) (edited)
[7:49 PM] Dan Davenport: (Oh, the (done) is really only for the end of the intro. )
[7:49 PM] Dan Davenport: What system is the most challenging to use?
[7:49 PM] Chantel (SHE/HER): Oh okay.
@Dan DavenportWhat system is the most challenging to use?[7:51 PM] Chantel (SHE/HER): That has to be 5e. I like playing the game, but for whatever reason I have a really hard time getting into the writing.
[7:52 PM] Dan Davenport: Really? Interesting! I wonder why that is… I’m not very much in the D&D loop but would have guessed that 3e would be the trickiest.
[7:54 PM] Chantel (SHE/HER): I think part of it is that I play 5e and it’s alright but I would rather be doing something else and that kind of runs over to the writing I do it because that is what everyond is doing, but I would rather be doing something else.
[7:55 PM] Silverlion: Have you tried writing for non D&D/D&D-alike games?
[7:58 PM] Chantel (SHE/HER): Does Teenagers of outer space count and D&D like? If the answer is no than I wrote a little adventure for my patrons using that system. if it does count and D&D like. I would love to do something with Shasowrun.
[7:58 PM] soundchaser: Awesome. TFOS is a blast.1
[7:58 PM] Dan Davenport: (Welcome back, @soundchaser!)
[7:59 PM] soundchaser: Hi! Thanks
[7:59 PM] Dan Davenport: What, if anything, do all of your adventures have in common? Any recurring themes, for example?
[8:00 PM] soundchaser: @Chantel (SHE/HER) do you rely on Patreon? How to find you there?
[8:01 PM] Silverlion: … (edited)
[8:02 PM] Silverlion: Whoops. I wouldn’t consider TFOS D&D like, nor Shadowrun.
[8:02 PM] Chantel (SHE/HER): The Final Dream is an adventure where that group is trying to find a king. The Greek adventure starts with you getting kidnapped by a cyclops and you need to find your way home.
[8:03 PM] Silverlion: C&C, DCC are though. Are the PC’s lost for a REALLY long time?
[8:03 PM] Chantel (SHE/HER): I would like to rely more on Patreon, you can find me at https://www.patreon.com/user?u=14964776&fan_landing=truePatreonThe Swamp is creating content for Dungeons and Dragons and other …Become a patron of The Swamp today: Get access to exclusive content and experiences on the world’s largest membership platform for artists and creators.
@SilverlionC&C, DCC are though. Are the PC’s lost for a REALLY long time? [8:04 PM] Chantel (SHE/HER): That depends on how you define a long time the next adventure is called 40 days and 40 nights.
[8:05 PM] soundchaser: Awesome thanks
[8:06 PM] Chantel (SHE/HER): You are so welcome.
[8:06 PM] Dan Davenport: @Chantel (SHE/HER) Did you see my earlier question?
@Dan Davenport@Chantel (SHE/HER) Did you see my earlier question?[8:07 PM] Chantel (SHE/HER): I think I missed it.
@Chantel (SHE/HER)I think I missed it.[8:08 PM] Dan Davenport: What, if anything, do all of your adventures have in common? Any recurring themes, for example?
@Dan DavenportWhat, if anything, do all of your adventures have in common? Any recurring themes, for example?[8:10 PM] Chantel (SHE/HER): Sorry I did not respond to you. The Final Dream is an adventure where that group is trying to find a king. The Greek adventure starts with you getting kidnapped by a cyclops and you need to find your way home. I Guess the theme in the final dream is temples to other gods. Like Zeus and Set is the one I am working on now.
[8:11 PM] Silverlion: What is ‘Wonderland’?
[8:11 PM] Eric_E: Would you also consider real-world mythologies to be part of your theme?
@SilverlionWhat is ‘Wonderland’?[8:13 PM] Chantel (SHE/HER): Wonderland is my D&D world for Alice in Wonderland.
[8:13 PM] Silverlion: Ah. Cool
@Eric_EWould you also consider real-world mythologies to be part of your theme?[8:13 PM] Chantel (SHE/HER): Sometime yes.
[8:14 PM] Dan Davenport: And you mentioned that Wonderland will use different versions of D&D?
@Dan DavenportAnd you mentioned that Wonderland will use different versions of D&D?[8:16 PM] Chantel (SHE/HER): Yes, I will have a main setting book with general world information and then each edition will have a book with stuff specific to that edition and adventure.
[8:17 PM] Dan Davenport: Has creating a setting book posed any challenges that adventure writing has not?
@Chantel (SHE/HER)Yes, I will have a main setting book with general world information and then each edition will have a book with stuff specific to that edition and adventure.[8:17 PM] Eric_E: Is there any reason to break it into different editions, instead of putting it all in one?
@Dan DavenportHas creating a setting book posed any challenges that adventure writing has not?[8:20 PM] Chantel (SHE/HER): Oh man, Yes there are different challenges. Like having to remember stuff Um at character creation if you are playing a Knight you have to pick are you a king’s knight or a Queen’s knight. Queen’s knights can not fight each other and vis versa.
@Eric_EIs there any reason to break it into different editions, instead of putting it all in one?[8:21 PM] Chantel (SHE/HER): There is no other reason other than that is something I want to do.1
[8:23 PM] Dan Davenport: What (if any) tweaks or additions are you making to the D&D rules for Wonderland?
@Dan DavenportWhat (if any) tweaks or additions are you making to the D&D rules for Wonderland?[8:26 PM] Chantel (SHE/HER): I am adding some classes and races to Basic, There are more firearms in Wonderland, and the ammo from a gun uses the exploding dice rule, those are thinks of the top of my head.
[8:26 PM] Dan Davenport: What classes and races are you adding?
[8:26 PM] Chantel (SHE/HER): Really the races and classes will be in all the editions.
@Dan DavenportWhat classes and races are you adding?[8:28 PM] Chantel (SHE/HER): I have only done some work on Basic, but Races are a Cat like people, a elephant like people, Rhino and shark. Classes are Knight and Zoomer a fast thief.
[8:30 PM] Dan Davenport: What was your thinking on including firearms? Are there guns in the original stories? (Never read them, sad to say.)
[8:32 PM] Chantel (SHE/HER): That cat people will not be in 5e because people we the Tabxi. The firearms is something I have added from the Original stories. One of my favorite things is The West a Steampunk Amazon Cowgirl city.
[8:34 PM] Dan Davenport: Is magic different in Wonderland?
[8:37 PM] Chantel (SHE/HER): No. I am not good enought to come up with something better. But I would love for people to use the mana point system, but that is just something I find interesting.
[8:39 PM] Dan Davenport: Are there clerics in Wonderland? If so, who are the gods?
[8:44 PM] Chantel (SHE/HER): I was hoping this question was coming. Yes, a person can be a cleric, plus there is a group called the Sisters of Alice. The Gods can be found sometimes among the common people. They are Alice, The Madd Hatter, Tweedle Dee, and Tweedle Dum, The White Rabbet, The Carpenter, the Walrus, and The Cheshire Cat. I am sure you are wondering why not the Queen of Heart. While that is because each suit has a queen that rules over a different part of Wonderland.
[8:45 PM] Dan Davenport: What is Alice the goddess of?
[8:47 PM] Chantel (SHE/HER): I have not worked out all the domains but Madness and Death are two of them.
[8:48 PM] Chantel (SHE/HER): Oh I forgot the Catipiller
[8:48 PM] Dan Davenport: Madness and Death, eh? Is this a darker reimagining of the setting?
[8:51 PM] Chantel (SHE/HER): yes.
[8:53 PM] Dan Davenport: Cool.
[8:54 PM] Dan Davenport: About how large will the book be?
[8:56 PM] Chantel (SHE/HER): Is I don’t know yet an acceptable answer? Right now I am just throwing all my idea’s out there.
[8:57 PM] Dan Davenport: Certainly.
[8:58 PM] Dan Davenport: Do you intend for Wonderland to be the start of a game line, or is it to be more of a one-off?
[9:01 PM] Chantel (SHE/HER): Oh, it’s totally going to be the start of a line. I have this idead for a suppulment called Alic’s book of Really Good Advice.
[9:03 PM] Dan Davenport: I love the title.
[9:03 PM] Chantel (SHE/HER): Me too.
[9:04 PM] Dan Davenport: Do you mind if we wrap up? I’ve been pretty run down today after getting the second COVID booster.
[9:06 PM] Chantel (SHE/HER): Oh man, you are the driver. I was just helping you fill a spot.
[9:06 PM] Dan Davenport: Okay! Well, thank you very much for stepping in this evening!
[9:07 PM] Dan Davenport: If you’ll give me just a minute, I’ll get the log posted and link you! 1
