Hello my name is Edward Curtis, I’m from Portland OR (states). I’m currently working as a produce clerk, however I am hoping to turn designing physical games into a career. Not just TTRPGS but board games and card games.
The current project I have is Final Roll.
Final Roll is a setting agnostic, classless TTRPG system. Designed to be simple and easy to play. Accessible to a wide audience of players and GMs. Allow for high levels of character customization, with mechanics that allows characters to feel reliable in their abilities. While also making it incredibly easy to play in a large variety of settings, with tools for GMs to customize the game with ease.

Hey folks, I’m Russ, aka Salty, of Salty Games

NewEdo is my first TTRPG, and it was built first as a system, and then skinned with a personality.

First I’ll talk about that personality – NewEdo is set in a pseudo near-future Tokyo/Kyoto hybrid. Imagery like this and this

NewEdo’s marketing has been distilled into the catchphrase “neon samurai” but I don’t want it to be confused with some other neon urban games out theree
[02-Nov-21 07:33 PM] aka Salty#1581
the differentiator, from a setting/feel perspective, is that the game reinforces a theme of *change
[02-Nov-21 07:33 PM] aka Salty#1581
rather than angst or rebellion
[02-Nov-21 07:34 PM] aka Salty#1581
NewEdo is set in the middle of the 21st century on an Earth fairly familiar to ours. Technology is more advanced, but people still go to work on buses and text on their phones
[02-Nov-21 07:35 PM] aka Salty#1581
the differentiator, change, is evidenced by a core concept in this world; that belief can define reality
[02-Nov-21 07:36 PM] aka Salty#1581
the strongest ‘proof’ of that is that the yokai -creatures of lore – that people believed in for centuries eventually just… came to life. then join society and got jobs
[02-Nov-21 07:36 PM] aka Salty#1581
so your barista may have a beak and your cabbie may have horns
[02-Nov-21 07:36 PM] aka Salty#1581
but humans are still the most populous beings in NewEdo, and their collective belief tends to be what drives the future
[02-Nov-21 07:37 PM] aka Salty#1581
which gets us back to change – the future of the city (and world, but let’s not go there yet) is up for grabs as our story unfolds, as it were
[02-Nov-21 07:37 PM] aka Salty#1581
NewEdo isn’t a dystopian hellscape or megaburb owned by corporations
[02-Nov-21 07:37 PM] aka Salty#1581
…yet
[02-Nov-21 07:38 PM] aka Salty#1581
the past is strongly believed in, and NewEdo’s traditions are revered
[02-Nov-21 07:38 PM] aka Salty#1581
so, the past has never really… died, or disappeared
[02-Nov-21 07:38 PM] aka Salty#1581
so, as you see in the art above, the past lives alongside the future.
[02-Nov-21 07:39 PM] aka Salty#1581
and, reinforced by the art, the city is at a series of inflections points – between the past and future, tradition and technology, among others – and that change/inflection is echoed throughout the game

notably, those are dusk shots. not night (time) city
