<+Raven> Good evening everyone, my name is Raven c.s. McCracken the creator of The world of Synnibarr.
<+Raven> Synnibarr is the first multi-genere RPG published in 1980.
<+Raven> now we have a completely new engine and a new version of the game after 38 years. This new version took 10 years to develop and publish.
<+Raven> it is the culmination of my experience and love of the pastime.
<~Dan> (Ready for questions?)
<~Dan> Thanks, Raven! The floor is open to questions!
<~Dan> Let’s start with the basics… What is WoS about?
<+Raven> The setting is thus: You are adventurers on a Worldship, that flies around from planet to planet, searching for a home for the inhabitants. The adventurers were fashioned by the Avatar of he god of Hope to embody the dreams and legends of ancient earth.
<~Dan> And the Worldship was created from Mars, if I remember correctly?
<+Raven> The system includes the guidelines for 35 races and over a dozen guilds.
<+Raven> yes, the Worldship was fashioned by humanity and th avatar into the worldship.
<+Raven> sorry, got distracted….
<~Dan> No problem!
<+Raven> yes, Synnibarr was made from Mars.
<&Silverlion> What’s the system like?
<+Raven> the name came from the color of the first sunrise.
<+Raven> this new system is very streamlined.
<+Raven> no more levels
<+Raven> no more rolling random damage or characters
<+Raven> example: you have a sight sense vs a concealment ability…
<+Raven> ou have a plus 10 on sight.
<&Silverlion> Ok, so far!
<+Raven> a player rolls the percentile dice adds any bonus that establishes the concealment score that the sight must beat
<&Silverlion> So its a percentile system? Roll over?
<+Raven> the sight would have the plus ten and the roll must meet or exceed the concealment score… now for the fun part
<+Raven> yes…percentile system..roll over… simple. but…
<+Raven> you can modify the dice roll by burning constitution points the are limited on a per second basis.
<+Raven> 1 con point adds +5 to a dice roll
<+Catseye> where are you selling it? And where can we buy it?
<+Raven> or 1 con allows you to use full force damage
<+Raven> 2 con points adds +10to a dice roll or multiples the force damage.
<+Raven> it is on the synnibarr.com website
<+Raven> now the con points must be burned before the dice are rolled.
<&Silverlion> Makes sense.
<~Dan> Do you have a character sheet posted somewhere that we can see, Raven?
<+Raven> so that is the basics of skill, shot/fates…and most of the system in that aspect.
<+Raven> on the website… That is a great question, Dan!
<~Dan> I find that it helps to discuss the system.
<&Silverlion> Is it out now?
<~Dan> Hmm… Where on the website is the character sheet, Raven? I’m not seeing it.
<+Raven> I wish I had known, I would have created a link or something.
<+Raven> yes, the new book is out now.
<~Dan> That’s okay! Can you describe the elements that make up a character — attributes, skills, etc.?
<+Raven> yea… we have core stats, General skills and Combat stats.
<&Silverlion> It still says coming 2017, but my website needs an update.
<~Dan> What are the core stats?
<+Raven> Core stats are Life points, and meta-rate (metaphysical life points) Constitution, Willpower, and the Con Gate.
<~Dan> What is the Con Gate? How much Constitution you can spend at once?
<+Raven> The Constitution Gate limits how much con may be spent every second. You typically start out at for medium size, less for smaller charcters
<&Silverlion> How many pages is the players guide?
<+JamesGillen> Well, what would numbers be for a starting character?
<+Raven> over 300 pages
<&Silverlion> So still a big book.
<+Catseye> what is the URL for the website? I can’t seem to find it on Google
<+Raven> you point allocate for your character so everyone starts out with 200 merit. you point allocate for races and guilds and abilities and then for general skills and stats
<+Raven> (Link: http://www.synnibarr.com)www.synnibarr.com
<+Raven> I’m looking at it now.
<~Dan> I notice that the stats you listed don’t include such standbys as strength and dexterity. How does WoS 3e account for such abilities?
<+JamesGillen> Bears! With frickin’ LASERS out of their eyes!
<~Dan> FLYING bears. 🙂
<+Raven> the race of Human costs no points… where as the Talking raccoon costs 40.
<~Dan> (Howdy, ALicht!)
<+Raven> the general skills have manipulate materials, devices and tools.
<+ALicht> Hey Dan! Raven, James, nice to meet you!
<+Raven> The combat stat: Force is the same as strength.
<+Raven> the general skills add somewhat to the combat stats.
<+Raven> i love the lazerbears
<~Dan> Are there any additions or omissions in the races as compared to previous editions?
<+Raven> the mage tiger guild costs 80nmerit so to “buy” the raccoon and enter the mage tiger guild would be 120 merit out of 200
<~Dan> A talking raccoon can be a mage tiger now? O.o
<+Raven> we dropped some for th first book as they are a bit complex, and added some for the kids to play
<~Dan> (Howdy, Blarghedy!)
<+Raven> oh, yea…. no more limiters…
<+Catseye> I’ve seen something about as insane. Sharks that fire an underwater breath weapon that ignites the hydrogen in the water front of them
<+Raven> just point costs…whch are limiters…hehe
<~Dan> Are the guilds akin to classes?
<+Raven> oh, Catseye…im stealing that!!!!!
<+Raven> yes…no classes, just Guilds and organizations
<~Dan> Can PCs still start out as a god?
<~Dan> (Working from memory of 2e here…)
<+Raven> immortal born…yes!
<~Dan> How does that work, if character generation is no longer random?
<~Dan> I seem to recall that being based on a lucky roll in 2e.
<+Raven> Fate acres you may roll an immortal born
<+Raven> it is Fate’s choice.
<~Dan> Fate being the GM, correct?
<+Raven> too many conventions i met immortals that came in pairs… both validating the other rolled the 20s…
<~Dan> Heh. 🙂
<+Raven> Fate is the GM.
* ~Dan nods
<+Catseye> The shark is from my GM’s homebrew RPG. It’s called a Metadane. Basicallly, a Megalodon with the breath weapon. And they travel in packs.
<~Dan> How many different power sources (magic, mutations, etc.) are there?
<+Raven> ^ Powerbases, plus Venderant Nalaberong and Godpower.
<~Dan> What are those two?
<+Raven> Alchemy, Chi, Earthpower, Magic, Mutations, Psionics…and Time and Gravity
<~Dan> Time and Gravity? Those two are new, correct?
<+Raven> Venderant Nalaberong is the language of the centiverse, together with Godpower its opposite, they support all existence.
<+Raven> yes… time and gravity are very powerful
<+LazarX> Wow! You’re still alive! That’s amazing! and Hi!
<~Dan> (Howdy, LazarX! Welcome to #randomworlds!)
<+LazarX> Your book is number one on my lists of favorite RPG’s that I’ll probably never run. 🙂
<+LazarX> What’s not to love about flying grizzlies with laser eyes!
<+Catseye> I have the first edition. I want the new edition
<~Dan> LazarX: And Giant Mutant Fire Clams!
<+LazarX> This is my first IRC connection in about two decades.
<~Dan> LazarX: We get a lot of that. 🙂
<+LazarX> last time I was on IRC it was on an Amiga.
<~Dan> LazarX: Well, I hope you enjoy your visit and decide to stick around. We’re always open for general chat. 🙂
<+LazarX> a program called appropraitely “Grapevine”.
<+JamesGillen> Sorta like regular Giant Mutant Clams only with ghost peppers
<~Dan> JamesGillen: 😀
<~Dan> Raven: Is there still a god of rock n’ roll? 🙂
<+Catseye> LazarX: The GM for my local game group is a huge Amiga supporter
<+LazarX> There was a Church of Elvis in Traveler.
<+LazarX> Your GM has my deep sympathies Cat.
<+LazarX> Being an Amiga supporter means willingly embracing expensive pain.
<~Dan> Raven: Also… are there still Midnight Sunstone Bazookas? 🙂
<+LazarX> Since Traveler was set in the 53rd century no one really was sure who Elvis was.
<~Dan> Midnight Sunstone Bazooka is a great band name, btw.
<+Raven> love it.
<~Dan> Is the Worldship still hollow?
<+Catseye> my type of gonzo 🙂
<+Raven> the illuminant lights up the inside of the sphere.
<+LazarX> In Paizo’s Starffinder Scenarios the “in” band is called Strawberry Machine Cake
<~Dan> Do I remember correctly that the interior is more primitive than the exterior for some reason?
<+Raven> we have the ring of frost in place of the equator in the inside
<+LazarX> Is the storyline progressing further in the new edition?
<+LazarX> What there was of it that is.
<+Raven> the new setting has them equal no inher3nt restrictions
<+Raven> the setting is wide open for Fate to determine. hey everyone that is all the time I have for tonight
<+LazarX> I hope the binding in your new edition is as solid as the old one, my book is still in great shape.
<~Dan> Well, darn…
<~Dan> Thanks for joining us, Raven!
<+LazarX> take care, looking forward to it.
<+Raven> it is hardback and solid and in color
<+Raven> see ya!
